Not only is India home to one of the most
diverse human populations in the world, too, it is home to one of the most
diverse wildlife populations on Earth. Home to countless endangered species and numerous massive predators,
India boasts over 120 national wildlife parks. Join us on our tour of the top safari picks this vast landscape has to
offer.
Siana
The Wild India Tour begins with a trek through
leopard country. This first outing will
begin with a visit to a local shepherd community where we will visit with local
artisans and assist carpenters in their woodworking. The shepherd community is one that has
remained mostly untouched by western influences and is a great introduction to
the wildlife the region has to offer. We
will conclude the day with an evening safari drive in hopes to spot an illusive
leopard. Don’t be surprised if you spot
the Indian striped hyena, a desert fox, or the jungle cat himself.
Jodhpur
Nestled by the entrance to the Thar Desert, Machiya Safari Park is located just outside the city of Jodhpur. This safari park is home to amazing flora and fauna and boasts the opportunity to catch glimpses of wild cats, blue bulls, rabbits, mongoose, monkeys, monitor lizards, and desert foxes. Don’t miss the sunset bird watching tour, as this sanctuary is aligned with many migratory patterns native to central India.
Jaipur
With a backdrop of ancient ruins, Ranthambhore
National Park is amongst one of India’s best places to tiger watch. This park is majorly famous for its tigers
and is one of the best locations to watch these predators in their natural
habitat.
Udaipur
Here we will visit Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary. Covering an area of 578 square kilometers, this sanctuary is home to many endangered species of wildlife. Catch glimpses and photographs of wolves, leopards, sloths, hyenas, jackals, and the four-horned antelope here. Additionally, there are many avian features as well. Don’t forget to look up as passing overhead may be the jungle fowl, peacocks, doves, red spur owls, parakeets, golden orioles, bulbuls, doves, pigeons, and the beer-namesake kingfisher!
